  • Known for her wide-ranging articles, opinions and commentaries on everything from current affairs to health, fashion and motoring, Daily Telegraph columnist Celia Walden has written for Glamour, GQ, Elle, Russian Vogue, Porter Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, Net-a-Porter’s The Edit, Grazia, Stylist, The Spectator and Standpoint.

     

    Her first book, Harm’s Way – described by the Observer as a “gripping debut” and Grazia as “a subtle, sensual, absorbing tale” – was published in and translated into four languages, and her second book, Babysitting George, was BBC Radio 4’s Book of the Week and nominated for the William Hill Sports Book of the Year prize. In September , she published her first thriller with Little, Brown, Payday, which was an instant Amazon bestseller and selected for the Richard and Judy Book Club. Her second thriller, also published by Little, Brown, is out next year.

    Celia Isobel Pughe-Morgan (néeWalden; born 8 December ) is a British journalist, novelist, and critic.

    Early life and education

    Walden was born in Paris, France. Her father, George, became a Conservative MP and Minister for Higher Education under Margaret Thatcher's premiership. Walden's mother, Sarah, is an art historian and picture restorer, who has worked on old masters. Walden was educated at Westminster School, followed by Newnham College, Cambridge,[1] where she read French and Italian. She grew up with two brothers.[2]

    Walden has worked as a waitress, but is best known as a feature writer and former gossip columnist.[2] She was the last editor of The Daily Telegraph's now defunct diary, "Spy". She previously wrote for the Evening Standard and the Daily Mail.[3] Her first novel, Harm's Way, was published in August
